Finding Your Lane — The Masters Club Novel on Reinvention, Friendship, and Slow-Burn Romance

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d write a women’s fiction beach read about a community swim team, I would’ve laughed and then politely asked if you’d mistaken me for someone with perfect flip-turn form and an Olympic medal collection.
Spoiler: I’m neither.
But what I am is someone who believes in second (and third… and fourth) chances, in finding your people, and in discovering love, romantic and otherwise, in the most unexpected places. And that’s the heartbeat of The Masters Club, my debut contemporary women’s fiction novel.
When I started writing Nora’s story, she wasn’t looking for transformation. She was looking for somewhere to be, preferably somewhere with a little anonymity, and maybe a towel to hide under. But that’s the thing about reinvention: it doesn’t always start with a grand plan. Sometimes it starts with a frayed old swimsuit and the stubborn decision to just… show up.
In Lane 4, Nora finds a group of women who don’t just swim laps, they cheer for each other, tease each other, occasionally show up in glitter tutus, and always leave the pool with a story worth telling. She also finds Simon, the coach with the kind of quiet, steady presence that makes you want to spill your secrets before you’ve even finished your warm-up set. It’s not love at first sight. It’s something better—slow-burn romance that grows in between shared glances, bad jokes, and the patience to truly see each other.
Writing The Masters Club reminded me that friendship can be as life-changing as romance, and that sometimes the most important relationship you build is the one with yourself. And yes, it reminded me that slow-burn chemistry is worth the wait (both on the page and in real life).
If you’ve ever had to start over, if you’ve ever found your people in the least likely place, or if you’ve ever wanted a story that makes you laugh, sigh, and maybe text your best friend just to say “you’re my Lane 4,” I wrote The Masters Club for you.
Launching September 19, The Masters Club is women’s fiction with goggles, grit, and a generous splash of heart. It’s perfect for Emily Henry fans, for readers searching for uplifting novels about friendship and reinvention, and for anyone looking for their next contemporary women’s fiction beach read.
